Legislator Wants PSC To Abandon The Costly Haverstraw Water Project

CLARKSTOWN, N.Y.-- Rockland County Legislator Harriet Cornell (D-West Nyack) sent a letter to the New York State Public Service Commission asking the agency to formally abandon the Haverstraw Water Supply Project.

Cornell wrote in her letter “I also respectfully request that the Commission issue a clear decision taking the Haverstraw Water Supply Project completely off the table, thereby enabling the energies and initiatives of both Suez and the county of Rockland to focus on conservation," according to a press release.

She asked the New York State Public Service Commission to consider this because of potential costly overruns if it takes too long to make a decision.
